Crispy outside and custardy inside, french toast is an easy way to dress up that stale loaf and turn it into something yummy!
Mix up all the custard ingredients using a whisk or blender. Pour into a shallow dish so that you can easily dredge the bread slices.
Soak the bread slices in the custard. Allow them to sit in the mixture at least 30 seconds per side.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter or ghee in a skillet or griddle heated to medium. Cook the soaked bread slices for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the cooked french toast to a cooling rack. Serve warm with butter and warm maple syrup.
